A 5 day tour to Hyderabad was
organized by the school in which 52 staff members participated and visited
Kolkounda fort, Birla Mandir, Snow World, Ramoji Film City and NTR gardens
during August 2007.
Teachers day was celebrated on
5th September 2007 with Traditional gaiety when Rev. Fr. Paul Raj Kumar,
Principal, Pope John Paul II College of Education, Reddiarpalayam gave the
Teacher’s day message and honoured the three jubilarians Mr. Vincent Joseph.
Mr. D.Arokiadoss, and Mr. Dhanasamy for completing 25 years of service in this
institution.
181 students from higher
secondary classes proceeded to Trivandrum, Kanyakumari along with 6 teachers
and enjoyed the tour during quarterly holidays.
165 students of 9th standard
under the supervision of 6 teachers went on tour to Mysore, Bangalore and Ooty.
NSS volunteers, 43 in number proceeded to Cochin, Valachal and Adhirampalli
falls on a 3 day tour during the last week of September 2007.
Our school received a most
prestigious “Social Action Award 2006 – 2007” from Indian Development
Foundation for excellence in Health Awareness Resources Mobilization &
Humanitarian services. The award was presented to the school principal by
Justice Jagadeesan, former judge of Madras High Court on 4th November 2007.
Children’s day was celebrated
on 14th November 2007 with Thiru D.Ramabathiran, District Judge, Member
Secretary, Union Territory of Puducherry Legal Services authority, as chief
guest. A tamil drama enacted by teachers and directed by V. Gerard Anand
gained much popularity. Mr. S.Kumarakrishnan, Head of the department of Tamil
appeared as teacher with his innocent students Mr. P.T. Xavier, Mr. Niranjan
Dasappa, Mr.Arokiadoss, Mr. Peter George and Mr.Babu.
Christmas was celebrated with
traditional prayers, messages and carols on 10th December 2007 in the school
premises. Fr. S.Pitchaimuthu, Director, St. Xavier’s Pastoral Centre,
Puducherry gave special Christmas message. Sound and Light programme on
Christmas directed by Mr. V. Gerard Anand got the appreciation from the
students and the staff.
On 18th December 2007 a special
PTA meeting was arranged in which members approved the management to collect
Rs.1000 as building from the students in two installments.
24th December 2007 morning –
yet another important occasion for Petit Seminaire – nearly 100 primary school
students dressed themselves as Santa Claus took a procession in 40 different
cycle rickshaws from primary school and reached Archbishop’s house in Mission
Street, distributing sweets and fabulous gift to children and downtrodden all
along the bouleward.
S. Balaji of 12th B2 emerged
out as Second in Tamilnadu and Puducherry in AIEEE model examination conducted
by the Hindu Education Plus in collaboration with AIMS Education. He was
awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs.2500 by the Hindu.
On 26th January 2008, a special
retreat was organized for Catholic teachers at Villianur in which Fr. S.
Pitchaimuthu Director, St. Xavier’s Pastoral Centre was the main preacher.
In the morning session Fr.
Maria Selvam, Chairman, Bible commission, addressed the teachers and the
retreat concluded by a high mass conducted by Most. Rev. Fr. Antonysamy, Vicar
General of Puducherry and Cuddalore.
A pilgrimage trip was arranged
for +2 boys to Vailankanni shrine and Chidambaram Nadarajar Temple on 29th
January 2008.
In connection with “Petit
Priest Day” all the students and staff expressed their love and affection to
the Principal and Vice – Principal on 30th January 2008.
A purse of Rupees One lakh was
presented to our school drawing master Mr. S. Sivakumar who underwent a major
surgical operation at Chennai during July 2007. Apart from Rs.40,000
contributed by the management, all the staff members were kind enough to
contribute Rs.60,000 to meet out the expenses by Mr. S. Sivakumar and I take
this opportunity to appreciate the noble gesture by all the staff members,
shown towards their fellow – teacher.
On 27th January 2008, old
students of the last batch of 11 year Matriculation belonging to 1978 batch
gathered at Escande Hall with their family members to felicitate their
teachers and their principals Rev. S. Peter and Rev. R. Ratchagar.
